What is the date of the race?

Saturday, November 2nd – 5K Run/Walk – 8:30 AM
Saturday, November 2nd – 10K Run/Walk – 9:15 AM


Where does the race start and finish?

All runs/walks will begin and end at the same location at Candlestone Golf Resort at 8100 Storey Road, Belding Michigan.


How old is this race?

The race began ten years ago and was included in the popular NIKE Human Race, drawing more than 2,200 runners. The original organizers and Race Director have decided to bring it back after a seven year hiatus.


Is there a course map?

Yes. Click on the link that says “Course Maps” and you can download or print the maps.


What is the course like?

All runs/walks will begin and end at the same location.

The 5K Course will be exclusively on the fairways and cart paths of Candlestone Golf Resort. As you race down some of the fairways and around the back of the greens, you will connect through trails to other fairways on the course. The 5K will have two aid stations along the course with water, fruit, Gatorade and GU energy gels.

The 10K Course will wind through the picturesque community of Belding. It will bring you by the Flat River, next to historic buildings throughout Belding, and through a few neighborhoods and parks, showing off this wonderful city in West Michigan. The course provides challenges going both uphill and downhill. Course marshals will be out along every intersection to ensure you are going the right way and Belding Police will be closing down lanes and roads for our participants utmost safety.


Do you limit the number of runners in each race?

No. However, registration will close October 28th, 2019 so make sure you register soon.


Is there a cut-off time?

Yes. The 5K runners will have a total of three and a half hours to finish their 3.1 miles before the course opens up for play. The 10K runners will have a total of two hours and 45 minutes before we begin opening roads and lanes to Belding traffic.


Does my registration include the post race party BBQ feast?

Yes! We will provide more details about the menu soon.


What should I bring to the race to help me finish and have a good time?

• Change of clothes for the post-race BBQ feast (and a bag for your race clothes)
• Your own water bottle, if you want it filled for the start of the race
• Gloves, just in case it’s cold
• Extra socks
• External phone re-charger or A/C phone charger
• Extra shoes, including a pair of non-running shoes
• Vaseline
• Sport Wax or Body Glide
• GU
• Camera
• Rain gear and/or umbrella in case of inclement weather
• Sunglasses
• Medical Tape
• Sports watch and/or GPS
• Icy hot or ice packs
• Ankle wrap
• Bandannas
• Moleskin, Duct Tape, or Second Skin
• Salt tablets or S! Caps
• Extra spending cash
• Headphones or MP3 Player
• Lastly, cash to be ready to sign-up for next years race!


Can I have cell phone on the course?

Yes.


Can I have a stroller, jogger or dog on the course?

Yes. A stroller or jogger is allowed on the golf course for all runs/walks, but there will be no dogs for the 5K course.


What items will you have at your aid stations?

• Water, Gatorade, GU Energy Gels, and fruit.


Can I wear headphones?

Yes, but you MUST be aware of your surroundings at all times. This includes being able to hear any verbal warnings/instructions from course officials, or the sound of any other participants on the course approaching you to pass.


Will this race be professionally timed?

Yes. This race will be professionally timed and scored. Results will be updated every two to five minutes online so your friends and family can track your progress.


Can I switch races or transfer to another runner?

Yes. Until October 28th you can transfer to another race, or another runner, at no charge. Please note that we DO NOT guarantee sizing if transfers take place any time after you have registered. There will be no transfers or race distance changes after October 28th.


May I sell my bib?

Yes. Only during transfer to another runner. The race does not handle payment between runners. All transfers must be done by October 28th, 2019.


What if I lose something during race weekend?

There will be a lost and found at the front desk of Candlestone Golf Resort for up to two weeks after the race. After that point, items will be disposed of.


Are there showers available after the race?

No.


When does registration open?

Registration is now open! It will close October 28th, 2019.


If I am injured, pregnant or unexpectedly out of town, can I get a refund?

Entry fees are non-refundable. This means once you have registered, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may defer your entry to the following year for $10 prior to October 28th, 2019.


Why haven’t I received an email confirmation?

Please make sure that you check your spam filter. Often times, a computers spam filter will erase or block the email confirmation that was sent to you. Registration look-up will be available October 10th, 2019 on this website.


Where does my registration fee go?

High school sports teams, scout troops and other local groups.


Will I receive an award if I place in my age group?

Yes. Place awards will be given now three-deep in each age category and for each gender. In addition, awards will be given to the top overall male and female and overall male and female in the masters event.


What are the Age Groups?

6-11, 12-14, 15-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over


When is packet pick-up?

Packet pick-up will be held Friday, November 1st from 2:00pm – 8:00pm at Candlestone Golf Resort and starting at 5:00am on the day of the race.


What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?

Your photo ID is preferred. If you are picking up a packet for another participant, please bring a digital or printed copy of their ID.


Where should I park on Race Day?

Parking is available within walking distance of the start/finish of the race at Candlestone Golf Resort. Please ensure you arrive early and follow the parking attendants’ directions for parking.


What is not allowed on the course?

Runners going backward, runners not wearing a race number, bicycles, roller skates or roller blades. Also, dropping trash between aid stations is not allowed. Carry your trash to the next aid station or drop it in the zone prior to exiting the aid station area.


Do you recommend any places to stay?

Candlestone Golf Resort has an on-site hotel! Just call them for directions, pricing and more (616) 794-1580


What are the average temperatures that time of year?

The daytime high temperatures are usually in the range of 39F – 61F.


Are there any facilities along the course?

Porta Potties will be available at the start/finish area and at each aid station on both race courses.


What is the course terrain like?

The 5K course on the fairway is fairly flat, with small ups and downs. The 10K course through the city has a few hills, but is mostly flat and downhill. Check out our course page for complete details on each course along with elevation charts and downloadable course maps.


Will medical personnel be on hand?

Yes. Medical teams are at the start/finish area, along with EMS teams throughout the course, and local EMS and ambulances on stand by.


What are the distances to the aid stations?

The 5K and 10K course will have aid stations at each mile.


What time will the awards ceremonies begin, and do I have to be there?

The awards for 5K races will start at 9:00am. The awards for 10K races will start at 10:15am and continue every 15 minutes after that.


If I would like to volunteer, how can I do that?

The race is put on with more than 150 volunteers each year. If you are looking to volunteer to learn more about the running community, have a runner running in the race and want to spend some time helping, are a church, organization, youth group or any other group that would like to help, please check out our volunteer form to sign-up today.
